General Company Overview
Aviator Airfreight (Pty) Ltd. was established in South Africa in May 2008 by founder and sole owner James Liebenberg, who serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. AA is a logistics company that offers a variety of logistical services worldwide. The company is multi-national, with a head office and branches in South Africa and foreign subsidiaries in Namibia and Mozambique.
AA handles most modes of transport and is experienced in road, sea and air cargo handling. Our phenomenal growth over the past seven years is the consequence of the owner’s dedication to personalized service excellence. Aviator Airfreight is a member of the World Cargo Alliance (WCA), which gives us access to hundreds of agents worldwide with whom we have developed mutually advantageous business relationships in the freight handling industry.
Aviator Airfreight has extensive experience with large cargo shipments, especially in Africa. For example, in 2008, we arranged all the logistics for the expansion of a gold mine in Ghana. We loaded 45 containers in Johannesburg, South Africa and sent them by sea to Tema harbor in Ghana. In Tema, we were responsible for all of the arrangements for customs clearance and then sent the containers by truck to Bibiani. None of the cargo required for the expansion of the gold mine could be sourced from Ghana and, hence, up to the last bolt it had to be sent from South Africa.
We have handled a number of such projects in Africa and we are experts on logistics in that continent. Africa is a very difficult place to do business in, and if we have an established facility in the United States, we will be in an excellent competitive position to offer our expertise and specialized in-depth knowledge to U.S. entities who wish to do business there, hence benefitting not only our own company but a number of U.S. companies who wish to do business in Africa and, as a result, benefitting the U.S. economy by assisting in the expansion of U.S. international trade in Africa.
Our office in Mozambique is strategically situated to assist with a new project in Northern Mozambique where large deposits of natural gas have been found and a natural gas rig will be built. The project has been given to a company in Houston, Texas and we are in an ideal position to provide them with logistical support, as we have extensive experience in the area of freight forwarding in Mozambique.
In addition to regular movement of live animals to international destinations, we are, as stated above, acknowledged experts in the handling of the shipment of hunting trophies from all over Southern Africa. We export shipments from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe. One of our biggest export markets is the United States. It is our intention to consolidate the shipment of hunting trophies to all of the various destinations throughout the United States to Dulles International Airport. Once the shipments into the United States have been cleared for entry by the relevant authorities, we will also handle their shipment and distribution to their final destinations in the United States.
Airlines reduce their rates based on the weight of the shipments. A shipment that weighs 1,000 kg is charged a lower rate than a shipment of 100 kg. When we consolidate our shipments, our company will receive the benefit of the lower consolidated rate. The large savings we obtain on the airfreight costs will be applied to further savings with regard to the trucking costs to the final destinations of the shipments.
